Telling the tale of the country's 36th president, the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park is actually a collection of sites located in and around Johnson City. Start a tour with a trip to the visitor center, then take a guided tour of the LBJ Boyhood Home, where the residence is still filled with early 20th century furnishings and decorations. Walk around the Johnson Settlement, where President Johnson's ancestors built a ranch during the 1860s and the structures still stand today. Finally, visit the LBJ Ranch for a driving tour around the property where the president lived and was put in his final resting spot. Consisting of many smaller locations, the park stretches along 14 miles in the heart of Texas Hill Country, 60 miles north of San Antonio.
Park open daily 8:45 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Guided tour hours vary, check website for details.
